How do I download this

Thanks

tfw literal peasants under feudalism had better lives than you

b-but at least I have an iPhone!

hur dur so you prefer to live in times in which most people died at age 30 because of war, disease or starvation, worked 14 hours a day, didn't wash themselves and more often than not couldn't feed their own children out of poverty?

YES.

worked 14 hours a day,

I heard they worked this much in a week. 40 hour work weeks are a new thing.

It's a common myth that people died at 30. That's an average number which is heavily brought down by the high number of infant mortality rates. Those who survived childhood often went on to live well into their 60s, 70s and beyond.

wtf I love feudalism

You should. Feudalism is based and epic.

It's pretty epic until all of a sudden your landlord is a communist and starts the holodomor and you're too poor to move houses 😠😠😠😠😠😠

Feudalism, with guns

There’s an article about that and it states that the real life expectancy excluding infant mortality hasn’t changed by more than 10 years in the past 2000 years or so.

Kinda cope bro.

So you'd be ok with some of your children dying then? Or your wife dying during childbirth?

That's not really a question because that doesn't happen anymore. Going back to medieval culture doesn't mean we'd give up medicine.

Infant mortality was as high as 40% back then. Think about the implications of that. People today would lose their minds and marriages would collapse from just one infant dying, yet back then infant deaths were so common. Somehow though, people still had children en masse.

Also, women were faced with the potential of death from childbirth. Somehow though, women still got pregnant en masse.

Just think about the kind of mindset that those conditions would foster. You think that mindset was mutually exclusive to everything else good back then?

Don't be so naive.

What are you even trying to say here? Nobody advocated for going back to past medicine. We're talking about culture. Talking about health in effort to debunk culture is a dishonest normie tactic.

Why are you pretending that physical health and the mortality rate of different demographic groups somehow doesn't play into culture?

Stop being vague and tell me what you're trying to say. Nobody wants to go back to past medicine. They want to back to certain structures and cultural things like music and fashion. Why do you bring up death when nobody wants that?

I think he’s making the Kaczynskian argument that you can’t separate culture from technology. Those brutal medical conditions are part of what fostered the culture you wish for.

Alright now that I see what he's saying, how though? What does infants dying have to do with creating classical music?

you're forgetting people now are fucking pussies

Sacrifices must be made...

Kinda presumptuous bro.

I merely chipped in with a little interesting fact without expressing any support or disdain for the ideas above and now I'm being asked if I want my family to die.

Average age was low almost entirely due to infant mortality. If you lived to 10 or so, odds were you'd live a relatively long life. But hey, gotta love historical revisionism!

P.S. Peasants worked waaaay less than us and had more vacation time.

Church-sanctioned holidays for the two-thirds of the year as well...

Literally all of my ancestors from now to the 15 hundreds (thanks Hitler and you ahnenpässe, makes finding your heritage really a lot easier) got to the age of 70 or 80 with a few exceptions.

If you survived childhood you got old.

They even worked way less than us

And paid 25% tax vs 40-50% today.

Lmao "gays and blacks hadn't been invented yet"

Bean movie. Now that was a good movie. *Zoomer Sips*

One of the first really great animated shorts was Killer Bean 2.

This classic is like ~20 years old, shortly after Teh Matrix came out.

Absolutely cutting edge of digital animation for the day.

People are reading Industrial Society and its Future by Theodore J. Kaczynski

Read the audio book version doing landscaping and really felt it in the soul. Something about digging holes with a spade and learning about industrial society and it's consequences... Therapeutic

Also the only audio verion I could find was a some young gen-z kid reading it in an extremely angry tone the through the entire book. Would recommend.
